Christians in Arts Therapy Network

Vision Statement

Identity (who we are):

  • We are a network of art, movement, drama and music therapists (including those in training) who identify as Christians and who are actively seeking to deepen their relationship with God.

Values (how we do things):

  • We trust and respect the HCPC standards and maintain transparency in all we do.

  • We uphold the principle of ‘one body, many parts’ as described in 1 Corinthians 12, celebrating varied contribution, difference and diversity within the network.

  • We believe that the love of God the Father, the good news of Jesus and the gifts of the Holy Spirit have a valuable place in our secular professions, places of work and service to our clients.

  • We believe that the skills gained in therapeutic training and secular clinical practice hold significant potential to nurture the body of
    Christ (the Church).

Mission (why we exist):

  • We seek to empower the network to speak about our values in secular clinical environments: to develop a language that is relevant, appropriate and theologically informed.

  • We seek to disseminate our values across our secular professions through publications, research and training.

  • We seek to contribute to the Church by sharing our gifts of clinical expertise and theoretical knowledge.

Vision (where we’re heading):

  • Annual national gatherings of network members

  • Regular regional/online gatherings

  • Outreach events for local areas/online platforms

  • Contributing to publications

  • Heading up research projects exploring the network’s themes

  • Offering training to churches as well as to secular environments

  • Becoming a familiar, respected group within our professions

  • The transformation of mainstream Christian worship by releasing the creativity of all people present in gatherings and expressing the full range of human experience presented in the Bible
